Epinephrine Readiness
Susan Tatelli created a video about epinephrine readiness for her Girl Scout Silver Award project. She was in the PRROTECT clinical trial at Lurie Children's Hospital for her peanut allergy. The PRROTECT study involved OIT (Oral Immunotherapy) which means that the participants had to eat their allergen in ever increasing amounts to achieve a point of higher tolerance. Susan received the placebo (although they did not know it at the time) of the drug they were studying, Xolair. Since she received the placebo, she struggled a lot with her daily doses and had many anaphylactic reactions. Her mom filmed her during one of her anaphylactic reactions and she created the video, How to Stay Alive.
